Examples of actions that could lead to removal include: Receiving MPS punishments, Failing to meet required hours Missing mandatory training Displaying a poor attitude.
Ridealong:
As a new member of MO-19 and a Probationary Authorised Firearms Officer (pAFO), one of the key steps in your progression is completing a 2-hour “Ride Along” with an SFO or higher. This hands-on experience is essential before you can successfully complete your probationary trial and be promoted to a full AFO. The ride along can be completed at any point during your week-long trial, but it is highly recommended that you schedule it early. The sooner you participate, the more you will benefit from observing and learning the protocols, strategies, and operational standards that make SCO-19 effective. During the ride along, you will have the opportunity to see MO operations in action, gain insight from experienced team members, and understand the nuances of decision-making under real-world conditions. This immersive experience is designed to help you settle into your role more confidently and equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to perform at the highest standard. The goal of this program is not only to accelerate your learning curve as a probationary AFO but also to enhance the overall capabilities of MO-19. By ensuring that all members have practical exposure and a clear understanding of proper conduct, we can maintain consistency, professionalism, and operational excellence across the division. While the ride along can be completed with any member ranked SFO or above, please be mindful of their responsibilities. We ask that you do not approach an OFC directly to request a ride along, as their schedule is often demanding. Instead, coordinate with your mentors and supervisors to find the most appropriate and effective opportunity. Embrace this experience fully—it is more than a requirement; it is an opportunity to learn, observe, and grow into a confident and capable member of MO-19. The knowledge and skills you gain during these hours will serve as a foundation for your success as an AFO and beyond.
